N2 Sport Hydro for Nats- NEED HELP

    Ok Gang,

I ran my N2 sport set up last night for the first time and I am simply not fast enough. My set up is as follows:

    Vac-U-Pickle
    Hacker 7L
Hydra 120 (Timing is set to High (14 degrees))
    5000 mah 2P

I know all of you fast guys run the NEU motors, but I am trying to use the equipment that I have. I was able to get the boat to low 40’s using a de-tongued X642. All of the temps were mid to high 90’s after that run. I have a little angle in the strut (about 1-2 degrees prop down).

I have a few options. I have a Feiago 8L that I can put in it. I can also go back to my Hacker 8S motor that will run high 40’s with an X637…

I would have thought that 50’s would have been easier with a Hacker 7L

    Anyone have any prop suggestions?

    Thanks
    Mike

For N2 you need a high KV motor...4000-5000. Not sure what the Hacker is without looking it up. You need something like a Feigao 6L. The 8L is more suited for 3S.

An X642 is not enough prop... What other props do you have to use??

I understand my set up is not going to set the water on fire, but I thought this would be a little faster than it is… On another note, I tend to run things on a more conservative side. It could be, it just won't work... Shame on me...

          Thanks for the reply Darin,

          I have some 45mm stuff, M445, X645, ABC H5, ABC H6

I can also hit the hobby shop if need be, but they will mainly have octura stuff...

Have you tried the X645??? That's where I'd start. I'm not that familiar with the ABC props mentioned... Any of these may require some tweaking to make work perfectly....

Your RPMS are going to be in the 28,000 range... It's been awhile since I've run a 2-pole motor, so it's possible that the X645 might load it down too much... In that case, give the M445 a shot... that should free it back up some... Check your temps.

The 7L is actually a good 2S motor, just not quite as hot as the 6L. LOTs of guys run these, and in the Vacu-Pickle, it should be more than enough... Just have to play around with props and get the combo right...

And, by the way... winning races... even at the Nats... is NOT abou the "Fastest" boat on the GPS.... You have to finish first... If you can drive a good line (stay as CLOSE to the buoys as possible), you don't have to have 50mph in the straights... The BEST drivers hold their line in the turns... something I'm still working hard to master... You can make up 10ft or more a lap just by staying on the pins in the turns... so make your boat DRIVEABLE and able to corner.... It's WAY more important that just speed.... Mid-40s CAN win the Nats, if the boat will hug the pins...

I have the same hull, ESC and 2s power but run a Neu 1509 1Y 3600kv turning an X442. She's competitive with UL-1's but I would like to see if I can prop her up a bit and squeeze a bit more out on the straightaways. Motor temps are low. Timing is high (15 degrees, I think)

                Any suggestions?

Guys be careful pushing the 120s too hard.

I agree with that... that's why I was thinking that the 445 might be a good choice... It's hard to recommend this stuff, because when we do it... we tweak and cut and cup and pitch the props around to make them what we want... hard to tell someone how to do all that... especially when you haven't seen their boat run...
