Increase Motor KV or # of lipos

    Hi,

Not sure which way to go? I want more speed, current setup 29" cat, KB45XL(1000kV) running on 6s with X648 prop, am getting just over 50mph.
Temps are OK and pulling 90A average, 130A peak.

I am now aiming for 60mph, is it possible with a 29" cat? If so do i keep the current setup and increase from 6s to 8s or change the motor from 1000kv to maybe 1200kV.

    Thanks

What cat hull are you running?

        Try running 8s... I run a 6s Hydro with 1250-1500KV motors and a 8s Cat with 1020KV,, both will run easy 60mph...

With a boat that size and wieght,, you will not pull too many amps on 8s1p.. You might want to prop down a little for the first run.. X648 should have you over 60 for sure!
Nothing like keeping you lipos warm and your prop wet!!

Also depends on what you have available, ESC for 8s? 4s lipos each for 130A discharge?
If you do not have these maybe it is cheaper to buy a 1250-1500 kv motor, starting with smaller props.
Txboatpilot's reply is very helpful since he already has these setups, depends on your available items and budget

I also say step the KV up a bit and stay with 6S. 29" hull should be no problem getting to 60. Prop down a bit and let her spin. The cheaper way to go. You also do not need a KB45 amp hog to do it.
