Adding auto-lipo feature to Hydra ESCs...need your opinion

Do you want to see this as the factory setting, or an optional setting? The new setting gives you the ability to set auto lipo, and set the cutoff voltage per cell it will shut down at. We will be changing the manuals, etc to reflect this. Castle would like YOUR input as to what you want, and think about the topic at hand.

Please vote "Factory", "Optional", or "Other" and explain why by posting below. Thanks everyone!

I selected Factory default. I think most boaters are running lipos now. If not they can always change the setting. Also, factory default will move the controller closer to being "Plug-N-Play." I think this will appeal to alot of boaters as programming, at least for me, is not one of my favorite tasks.

I also vote factory default. As Dom was saying most boaters are running lipo's. It would be a little more "User Friendly" Thanks Joe for asking what would appeal to us.

If not Auto Detect, what will the default be?

Auto Lipo is nice to have, but more important to me is to manually set voltage at which controller will begin to reduce throttle to maintain that voltage preset or to not let battery voltage get lower than preset. For example, I want to set voltage limit to 25V or 3.125V per cell for 8S. When battery drops to that voltage at full throttle amps, with my setup it usually happens after 5200mAh have been used. That corresponds to 86% depth of discharge for my battery. What controller has to be able to do, is to reduce motor speed to reduce amp draw to allow battery to stay at 25V. This gives me plenty of time to turn my boat around and drive it back to shore at low speed. If I recall correctly, Hydra's only have hard cutoff feature that gets my boat stranded at the lake.

BTW, Joe, did you get a chance to check why that voltage regulator part overheated?

              Hi Joe,

I selected Factory, so that it will be plug and play from the box.

BTW, any news of my BEC problem???

                Auto-factory default.

However with the Castle Link somebody could choose manual 4-5-6s etc...
Also in the auto detect, with the castle link to be able to set the cell's voltage to 3.0V, 3.1V, 3.2V etc...or % of total voltage
Thw MGM esc software is in this way, auto with % of total voltage cutoff to select - manual (4-5-6s) with cells voltage to select for cut off - auto timing - manual timing ...

I suggest you come out with a 'program box' so programmed at lakeside is easier! The castle link is nifty but not very convenient.

I would rather deal with castle link than deal with a bunch of beeps

Some people don't like Castle and never will, what can you do?
I say Factory just like the Phoenix controllers.
