    Cooling coil question

I got a piece of aluminum tubing to make a cooling coil. When I went to start make the coils it bent and kinked real easy. Is there a certain size I should use etc?

Use K&S 1/8" aluminum (or brass) tubing. Wrap it tightly around a cylindrical object a couple mm smaller than the motor. As long as you go slowly and keep the coils tight together you do not need sand, salt, sugar, etc. inside the coils. I made over a dozen coils and had no problems whatsoever. But the cooling efficiency of the coils is pretty poor compared to the cooling jackets which pot water in direct contact with the motor can - but the coils are cheap and probably better than nothing.

If water jacket for your motor size is not available, then use aluminum coil and spread some thermal heat sink grease on the surface where coil will sit. You can get it at Radioshack.
