It is that terrible service that is driving them out of business more than anything else. It is too bad that none of that was mentioned in the article. They look to be the victim, and they are. Victims of their terrible customer service. Things like telling me that UPS lost my order, TWICE in a row, and then when I finally get my order nearly 6 weeks after I ordered still charging me for express shipping are typical of the stories you hear about them!

While I never wish to see anyone go out of business, I also feel little remorse when it is clear that they did little to prevent it. Now maybe they have gotten the message and have improved. If so, I wish them good luck.

Reading between the lines it is pretty clear where the problem in the business is coming from.......

A message to all vendors. "Customers Service". Reguardless of how you feel. Customers are always right. Words of mouth will get you around, or can get you down and out.

Customers are not always right. There are some people in my buisness that will try and screw you anyway they can and they know "The sqeaky wheel always gets the oil" and they push and and push when they know there dead wrong. Hard to do buisness like that but thats the way it goes i guess.

There was some Pinhead on here a while ago that was giving Steve a hard time about a shipment,,,,,,he even started a thread about it,,,not his best move as just about every regular on here came to Steve's defence.

Don't think he ever came back after that,,,no great loss.

Customer service is and always will be the deciding factor for just about anyone when spending $$$$$$$.

As I have said before I will support a company such as OSE based on their service, honesty and they may not have the cheapest price. On many other online stores they do not state in stock and then rip you off as you have paid them for an item they can not deliver for many months and if they are still in buisness. Buyer beware!

We get emails and a few phone calls from people complaining about our prices compared to buying from China or fleabay. We always try to explain to them in a friendly manner that we incur heavy shipping costs and that we provide them service after the sale as well as all the FREE advice they can afford and that we always have spare parts available. Some are never happy. We don't feel any great loss when they don't buy from us.

I dont think so. I thought Dad would be felling better. He's doing great. But I just dont feel right asking for a day off at this point in his recovery.

This is a sad state of affairs, small business is hard even in good times, a customer lost is lost fore ever. I agree that customer service is what will be the difference between failed & successful enterprise. You will find that people who are serious about their hobby will take great customer service over price most times. As far as Hobby City go yes they are cheap and service is OK. But it is mostly plane gear and if you are serious about your FE or GAS boats then they will not get much of your cash. Has FD hurt themselves? Maybe but they do have some good gear perhaps a closer eye on stock levels and a web site directly linked to said levels would go a long way to fixing the problem.
