    Cable a tad short...please help

I cut a cable to what I thought would be more than enough when I put the shaft on for my boat. But I went to test fit the length this morning I found that with the stinger strut it was about 1/8 too short from going all the way into the back of the octura coupler. Should I solder the cable that is going into the coupler for added strength or what? Thanks.

Can you move the flex coupler 1/8 inch further out on the rotor shaft to make up for the short cable? Add a thrush washer to it? You can also change to a long coupler if you are using the short one.

The cable only has to enter the flexhex by about 3/8" - that is all the gripping surface there is in the collet. If your cable goes in that far then you are okay. It is a good idea to solder the cut end of any flex cable, but don't build up any solder on the outside or it may not enter the Flexhex.
