    Thunder Tiger Outlaw OBL

anyone seen this new brushless boat from Thunder Tiger?
    Length(mm / in.) 42.9” (1090mm)
    Height(mm / in.) 9.6” (243mm)
    Beam(mm / in.) 12.4” (315mm)
    Weight(g / oz.) 6.97 lb. (3160g)
    that only runs on 4s?
I think its a take from their 7.5cc Outlaw

Nice. I think it's only a matter of time that someone will come out with a brushless outboard tunnel!

Souonds like an expensive box-art boat. First off, a 43" hull is very large for a 7.5 nitro engine, and it is totally unsuited to 4S1P power at just 60 amps (quote: "Motor will burn if using 5S LiPo battery..." This sucker has dog written all over it. Looks like the ThunderTiger folks believe it is pretty easy to pry hard-earned cash out of the hands of ignorant westerners. However, they do warn us not to run the boat in water with muskrats in it........

This boat may not be fast and could be a great way for some to get into bigger scale RTR for those who don't want to build ( RCU that is )..
Wonder how this thing would run with a 200A esc and 6s?

"Unless user changes to a smaller prop"
You clearly don't have any experience running boats this size. A 40"+ mono is normally run with 8S to 10S and 65-70 mm props. A prop smaller than the already-tiny 46mm stock prop will give even lower speeds on this large, wet-running boat. The stock motor is totally unsuited for this use - a common mistake by box-art type boat marketers.

Sure, if you change out the motor, ESC and cells - say spend another $600 to $800 - you may end up with a boat that has decent "racing" speed and run time. But will this hull even run decently at high speed? Who knows, it's a big gamble. If somebody wants to try I'm all for it as long as they know the risks up front. But this turkey is nothing like the real RTRs from AquaCraft and ProBoat. They give decent performance as designed and delivered to the consumer - and they are easy to hop up with just a prop change. They don't have to mislead us with hyperbole and funky claims either. Chew on the statements below off the Thunder Tiger website - remember that they are talking about a 4S, 60 amp 43" mono! And always remember not to run your boat in water with muskrats in it.

Outrageous accelerations and fantastic handling are once again making this latest racer a sure winner....the addition of the latest OBL motor delivers outstanding performances making this e-powered off-shore racing boat a superb speed-addicted beast.

Bro! those are not my words but from the web site.. to use a smaller prop with 5s
no reason to get worked up on this RTR only if we built it and used the wrong power setup

Brushless, to answer your question, I haven't seen this boat yet, but c'mon man : a 43" mono on 4S at 60 amps ?

" Outrageous accelerations [ if you drop it] and fantastic handling [ if you use both hands to pick it up] are once again making this latest racer a sure winner [against sailboats].......making this e-powered off-shore racing boat a superb speed addicted beast [ like my ex-wife]."

Unfortunately I've seen too many times the heartbreaking look of disappointment on the face of newbie father & son teams who, in naive good faith bought some over-hyped box-art creation and had their hearts sink [ just before the boat did] as it motored around the lake, failing to arouse even the mildest interest from the somewhat jaded Legg Lake waterfowl.
Sight unseen, I give this one

                          Outlaw on 4S

I have a outlaw and run mine on 4s 25c packs run for 5 minutes at a time to not heat things up. I did find out that if you don't get up on step the water will not flow through the controller driving up the heat. I use a eagle tree system to monitor the motor controller and esc and the 60 amps is more than enough even with spikes when slamming the throttle out of the turns it hit 68amps for only a few seconds and then goes back down to the 50-60 zone as a result of unloading. So for me this is a great boat and works fine. I will most likely by the tunnel hull as I've seen video of it and it is fast.

Also if you read the manual it tells you to use another prop other than the 225 that is included so reprop to a 215 and go 5s is no problem. Actually I'm ordering a 215 for mine a see if I can make the Outlaw go even faster. Mine only does about 34 mph but this is not bad since this is only my second boat.

I bought a couple because I was told they came with a lipo pack and charger. When I got them there was no accessories in the package, so I returned them.
