    melting esc wires

i am running a blackjack 26 with a 2800kv xl motor from hobbycity, aquacraft esc from an sv 27 and 1 3 cell 5000mah lipo. problem is i keep melting either the wires off the dean plugs or clean melt the wire from the battery to the esc. both motor and esc run cool. any ideas as to why this might be happening?

those 6xl motors can pull some fairly high amps, the deans mite not be up to the task, you could try some 5.5mm bullets. but i would say the wires coming off maybe whats saving your esc letting out the magic smoke
what size prop are you running ?

Scott is right, the 6XL can be an amp hog. I have one in my big rigger.
It is important to know what prop you are running on the BJ26 before we can help you.

Big tip : If you are running a 6XL in anything fast, then deans are not enough.
5.5mm bullets all round is a good minimum.

I use deans on my crawler and my daughters small MT/buggy.

took the prop off tonight and it is marked, 1.4 38 b2. measured it and it is 38mm i assume the pitch would be 1.4 and it is a 2 blade. it is a black plastic prop

I ran the numbers through FECalc. It is not a terribly accurate program but gives some good estimates and I use it to compare setups.

That motor on 3S with a 438 prop will pull up to 100A
This is why the deans and your solder joints are letting go. You are lucky so far as they have become a fuse for a setup that is quite hot.

My suggestions now are to get a much lower kv motor and possibly a higher amp esc too. Step up to 4S as a minimum in that size hull.
You could even have a read about some 6S setups with the appropriate kv motor.

I have a 6XL for my rigger and would not consider putting it in a 26"cat.
The 7XL in my 29" mono is hot enough.

Deans are good to 80A, after that you need bullets, 4mm is pushing it and 5.5mm is better.
