    hydro

Im building a 1956 Ted Jones classic round nose hydroplane that was designed by Garry Finlay. The boat is 23 inches long and 9 1/2 inches wide. Im looking to run a Feigao motor and run it on 6-8 cells. The plans recomend a 4000-5500 Kv motor. So i was think of using a S sized motor and maybe 7 or 8 turns. Is this about the right sized motor for this boat. The boat is also very light.

    Thanks

Will you be racing this boat, or sport running? You will also need to decide how many cells you will run, that is what determines the exact motor to buy. For racing with 6 cells get a 7S. For 8 cells I'd recommend either a 9S or a 6L. The latter has a bit larger, has more torque and will not get as hot as the S motor. If you are not racing, then get a motor with one more turn that the racing recommendations. The boat will still run very well and your run time will be a bit longer.
