Throttle Calibration on ESC With Pistol Grip FM Radio

Guys, I can't seem to calibrate my ESCs as I have several Turnigy, Avionics Captain 45, and Castles. When I plug in an ESC to a fully charged LiPo, I get the beep. But, I can't get into calibration/programming mode with any of them. The steering servo works, but throttle doesn't. I've tried it with several receivers too - same thing. My radio is a Hitec FM Aggressor. It's been a while since I last ran a boat.

Any ideas on what it could be and what I should do with the Hitec FM radio?... Should I adjust throttle response?

    Thanks

If you are using BEC in the esc's, try not using it by removing the red wire from the connector and use a separate RX battery. Sometimes the Bec can't power up the rx fast enough to get into calibration mode. Check if throttle channel 2 is normal or reversed too.
