Futaba 4pls compatiblity/ Airtronics MXV

I have a futaba 4pls with a pair of R304SB receivers. At 60$ each its kind of spendy to send out in a boat that is not using all the features. I see the R204GF for 35$ non of wich are waterproof.

My question is what receivers are others running? I orignally got this system necause i have a crawler with a winch.

My other system is the Airtronics MXV its water proof and works well. The only thing i dont like about is it seams to have a shorter range.

Futaba FASST is pricey for sure, but it has always offered the best radio link available as it uses a combination of both fast frequency hopping and spread spectrum technologies. Multiplex/Hitec may be catching up as they use a similar frequency hopping spread spectrum system to FASST, and have now abandoned their omnidirectional antenna BS and switched to dual antenna diversity which actually works. JR/Spectrum are getting theit act together and have introduced DSMX which is also a great system with both frequency hopping and spread spectrum, hopefully in time it will roll out across the Spectrum range, but for now not all tranmitters can use it and it is not compatible with all receivers including the Marine ones, the DSM2 is a spread spectrum link that will only hop once if its chosen spectrum is dirty on startup. The Frsky system is frequency hopping, and it is inexpensive but quality control issues mean that not everyone gets the great results most do. I cant speak for Airtronics as they are not imported here and Sanwa (same thing, different name) are pretty rare, all I know is they use frequency hopping, Wilmer says they have low latency and you say they have less range.

None of the companies systems are compatible with eachother, but FrSky make receivers that are compatible with DSM or FASST as well as ones for their own systems.
