Using Traxxas TQi 2.4 radio for a boat?

I'm trying to use my TQi radio that is from my car for my electric boat. I purchased another receiver and installed it into the boat. When the trigger is in idle mode (not forward or reverse) the motor is spinning at part speed. I have to put it into full reverse mode to get the motor to stop. I couldn't find any settings on the radio to have 0% braking. Is there something I can do so when the trigger is in 'idle' mode the motor does not run?
This is my first electric boat. I'm converting a Tunnel Hull that I built in 1984 from the 3.5K&B nitro motor to an electric outboard.

    Thanks

I would just reset the radio to it's default (factory) settings, and then rebind to your receiver. This is what I did and had no issues at all. Procedure is on page 6 of the TQI manual.

You need to calibrate the ESC to the radio. Check the ESC instructions for programming. The TQi is great when used with the docking base, else it is a nightmare to setup with blinks and buttons.

He might, I used the TQi with a Litehawk Challenger and there's no way at all to program the throttle range with those esc's. It works perfectly fine, over 40mph with 4s setup, idle is idle and full throttle is full. All I did was reset the transmitter to factory defaults, seeing as it was previously "programmed" to be used with a Traxxas truck and esc.

I'd still start with resetting the transmitter to factory defaults and try it, just so he's sure he's using a "fresh/default" transmitter setup.
