I'm trying to move the receiver from my wrecked UL-1 to another boat. Are there any basic wiring guides for such things? last time I was in this hobby we used freq chips.

Today's 2.4 gig radios don't use crystals, they are bound to a specific transmitter. I assume you are using the Tactic radio? If you are using the same Tactic transmitter with the new boat as you did with the old one, just put the receiver in the new boat, it should work fine. If not you will have to "bind" the receiver to the transmitter, see below. The receiver will not work with other 2.4 brands like Futaba, Hitech or Spektrum.
