This is very similar to the conformal coating I use on circuit cards for the Navy. Holds up very well to heat and the environment.

gsbuickman, thanks for your helpful posts!

In the light of this thread 5-spekky-Rx-s-die-after-plasti-dipping? from the author of this how to I think it only fair to point out that there is a risk that goes along with modifying electronics in any way and once modified you are out of warranty so if there are any bad consequences it is all on you. The author says he has done this many times before with no ill effects, so I am sure he wrote this guide in good faith, but maybe they have changed the formula since he last used it or something. It is possible though highly unlikely that he received 5 DOA RXs and as they weren't tested before coating it cant be proven either way, I would urge anyone that does want to modify anything that they test it stock first, just in case it is DOA before invalidating their warranty.

Perhaps this entire thread should be removed, or at least have its title changed so no one else follows the how to with the same results, until gsbuikman is convinced that the process he details here did not kill the RXs.

Many receivers have a connector for the antenna; the ant is not soldered in.

It's very possible (likely, actually) that the dip got inside the connector and insulated it.

            couple things cap'n.
            1) i just did my receiver and my bec as shown above. both work fine.
            2) i also did my esc and it works fine. I bench tested everything on mine the other night. everything works like a champ.
