I still run the original GT2 TX on about 25 odd boats, both fast & scale with those receivers all bound to the one TX. Yes there is a programable failsafe in them. Just press a button & release it when the LED stops flashing. Too easy.
In the last 4 years or so of using them I've only had one problem. A receiver ignited when a BEC in a speedie failed & pumped the full 6s voltage into it. But I don't think any receiver would have handled that.See the danger. THEN DO IT ANYWAY!!!

I am starting to use more, have a GT3B, so far it is great. All my receivers are of the earlier versions. I have relied on the Spektrum MR series heavily but after seeing the SkyFly in action during race events I decided to give it a try.
One thing is noticeable: the "resolution" ---for lack of a better word on channel 1 is not as smooth as my old FM Futaba radio. It is quite obvious: you crank the steering and watch how the car's front wheels turn. It's a bit like a 40's cartoon as compared to real movie. But I don't slalom race and it's ok by me.Too many boats, not enough time...Comment

Two club members have used them. One quit due to poor control reliability, the other still runs his - after crashing two boats into the bank due to loss of radio control. Like most low-end Chinese stuff, QA/QC is poor so you will get stories of some folks having great success with them and then some others will have terrible luck. You pay your money and take you chances......

Couple guys here have the 2 channel and 3 channel ones, I'm not sure why but both of them seem to spend a lot of time messing with the settings at the pond.
Couple of us run Spektrum and some Futaba, we just seem to choose the model and go.
I know the 2 channel doesn't have a model memory so every boat needs to have the trims etc reset when you change boats.
Range seems equal to the name brand stuff.
All I know is after years of running with no model memory I would never take a step back to a brand that doesn't have a true model memory.
If you only have one boat and are planning not to own more then I'd say go for it, if you have multiple boats and switch back and forth every run I wouldn't go with one. One guy here just buys a new 2 channel one for every boat.
I personally go for the name brand stuff, I don't change radios that often, until I switched to 2.4 I ran the same Futaba Magnum Sport for over 25 years! And I hope my new radio lasts as long! That's the one really good thing about the name brands, you can be pretty sure they will be around for a long time.If my boats upside down then who owns the one I thought I was driving the last two laps?Comment

Ive been using the flysky 3 ch for a couple years . The Rx don't like water . We seal ours in pill containers .The newer e/f RX models have better range . Google Flysky and you can find a place that offers TX upgrades . New firmware that removes some bugs and adds some features , ball bearning for the wheel ect . I have 3 conformal coated rx that are not in pill containers that worked good for me so far.
I have had Rx s that had short range . range check before you go racing . I have a lot of boats and use 3 TX and many Rx s . The low cost of rx s makes it worth it for me . Like most things a lot of my problems were in the set up . Would not work well in a Motley crew till I ran the antenna outside the hull . Im guessing the silver paint killed the range . Same with carbon fiber hulls .Comment

I have seen many posts on Flysky radios, on the International Waters site. Search the site using flysky.
Loads of information, firmware upgrades, tips on hacks and mods, and more. Some in the IC crowd use them and from the posts that I've seen, some of those using Flysky are very experienced racers.Comment

This question comes up several times a year and almost the same response by the same people. I am neither pro nor anti FlySky. I think if you have the budget for a name brand, by all means go for it. If budget is your concern, then this econo alternative is a viable consideration.Too many boats, not enough time...Comment

Flysky, Hobbyking, Eurgel. They are all the same.
I actually have the original HK GT2 with the three trim pots. No memory.
I set all my boats up to turn the same by adjusting the linkages in the boat. Hydros, cats, monos, riggers, & scale boats. All on one TX no need to adjust anything or reverse channels or select model memory. Grab a boat, throw it in & go.
The laughs I've had seeing someone start a race with the wrong memory selected.
I run all my antennas inside the boat. No problem.
The receivers are waterproof. I drove my offroad buggy into the lake. Totally submerged. Pulled it out & kept running for the day. It was three weeks before I ran it again & she ran fine, & still does.
I know a few people have had some bad experiences with them. But I've seen more failures with Spectrum & Futaba at the clubs I'm in, than these radios.
I'm not saying they are better than any of the other brands. This is just my experiences with them. A lot of people at our clubs use them.See the danger. THEN DO IT ANYWAY!!!

Well I was using a Spektrum DX3R and had almost 10 rx's for them at $90 to $100 a pop ( surface rx not the newer marine). I got a Eurgle and 4 rx's for $120. I know use a moded FlySky like what Flyguy 55 with 66 model memory and love it. It was dirt cheap for a brand new TX and with all the upgrades. It has never missed a beat. I have a large vintage car collection and have used most of models memory so I bought another 3GTB for my boats and again no problems. Out of around 100 rx's I have had around 5 duds. At $5 to $7 each i really don't care. I have always been a big believer of running a antenna tube on my cars and boats but never had a issue of just running it inside my boats. The range of these cheap radios is staggering. I have been told they aren't tested by the governing bodies of each country to comply to their communications rules therefore are quite high in their power outputs . If you are at any big car race meet and see old mate with a Flysky and the others using big names. The big name users will be complaining of interference due to the Flysky being over powering.....
As Paul said this radio in it's all different clones & is the most popular radio. I still see some older guys knocking around with old crystal radios with all sorts of problems. Why would you bother!!!!Comment

These must be hit and miss like Jay mentioned. I watched a guy struggle with his over the weekend. Worked on the bench but fought him on the water. That does NOT mean every singe one of them is crap. Before someone thinks I'm saying that. Plenty of success stories around.
How is warranty on them if they don't work?
Just seems like such a risk to find out your THE guy that got the single crap one of a 100. The fact that it was cheap is little consolation after you hit a concrete embankment. Or worse IMO, you run into someone's scale because you saved a bundle on your radio. He loves it when you take him out because your cheap.Noisy personComment
