    Y wind 10- 15 timing is good.
    D wind 0 - 5 timing is good.

I run everything at 15* Y or D no difference.

What is the reason that they should be run at different timings? And don't tell me "that's what I have always heard". That IS what I have always heard too, but not what I have always read.

Steve Neu (surely you’ve “heard” of him) personally told me years ago to run Y motors with 10-15* and D motors 0-5*. The D motors do not require advance and too much timing will not give more power but will cause excessive heating. Too little timing on Y motors can cause excessive heat too, depending on the amp draw.
