    Old and new motor differences

What is the internal difference between the new motor 3831 and old motor that is in the blackjack boat. Looks like new is a d motor and old a y motor kv is same 2000 so i thought y motors ran cooler and more efficient. Someone enlighten me.

The wind does not really effect motor efficiency much, in our motors the Kv is what matters. That and build quality, and the 3831 motor has better design and components. Efficiency is higher too. I don’t know the wind of the new motor.

The urban legend is that delta winds are amp hogs - whatever that means. The first time I remember hearing this was from oval racers who were comparing Neu 1527 motors; the 1.5 D with a 1500 Kv and the 1Y with a 1250 Kv. For some reason several boaters thought that both motors should use the same prop, so it is no wonder the D motor drew more amps. IME testing Y and D motors of similar design and Kv, both pull the same amps and give the same loaded speeds. 3D pilots have found the same thing, that Kv is what matters given otherwise identical motors.

Thanks, i guess d motors ar not amp hogs, and because of the build quality and efficient means you can spin a bigger prop.= more speed without motor gettin hot.
