Adding Copper wire to motor leads to make them thicker??

Tyler Gerrard was selling some motors in the swap shop that he added some solid wire to the factory tinned wire that solders into a connector.

How did he do this and does anyone else do it?

Spec motors have small leads sometimes as do some big motors. There is so much empty space filled with solder that I'd rather have filled with solder for best heat dissipation etc...

I use the copper wire from telephone cable, there are 4 strands in it.
Peel the shielding off of it, use the fine wire, it is about 22 gauge and wrap it tight around your motor wire.
It fills a 5.5mm plug nicely.

Or just buy thick wall copper tube; wire goes in the ID and the OD fits the connector. Better yet, buy solid copper rod and chuck it up in a lathe and make what you need...
