To each his own, but I see no reason for a 1/4" cable with this motor. I have run upper 90s with a Neu 1527 and 52mm props without issues, but I run high quality cables. The 1/4" cables are stiffer and have 30% more drag, sucking up a little power. However I doubt you would ever break one with this motor and props up to 55mm. I do use the 1/4" cables on my 10S boats with up to 65mm props.

Yeah it was of course a stepped down 1/4" to 3/16th shaft and broke right at the drive dog where the shaft stepped down.

Ahaha, Jay, about higher quality cables? Finer wire I assume? I have had variances in the past but where can I get a good set? Jeff?

Sorry Don, kinda went off track there.

I laid in a supply of Highey cables before he retired. The wires are tightly wound, and the stubs are well soldered. But I have used Aeromarine cables with good success too, just haven't used them nearly as much as the Hugheys.

Well dern! I meant to post a pic of the amarature....er uh...rotor. I'm a gas guy remember.

It looks like two cylindrical magnets, end to end. Sorry, I've never seen inside of a LMT motor. Actually, I'v never even seen a motor, that I know of!

Maybe they are trying to keep stuff, from getting in there.

We were breaking a lot of shafts in the gas boats. So I started making them myself. I'd go to the small engine shop and pull shafts out of old string trimmers that he had thrown in the junk pile. I used 1/4-28 grade 8 bolts for the stub, steel not stainless. We quit breaking them after that. Just had to put the flame on the stub and let the solder wick into the flex. Get the flex to hot, and it will surely break.

You said you hadn't seen one, well you have now

I only have the two and at like $700 per you can tell why.
They run magnets like that and are good for 60,000rpm

My 2x 4070-CM's arrived today, 2200Kv. Interestingly, the coils have about a 1/2" space between them and the back of the motor and no "paper" was used because of this space. So there ya go!

Testing begins tomorrow for me, will report back, hopefully make a new thread in relation to the hull they are going in...Cheetah.

You mean that the holes in the rear cover are open? Front too I suppose?

Yes open holes on both ends...well as far as I can see on the front. I'll take a pic later and upload.
