    Genesis motor questions?

Hi I have a genesis and looking to upgrade the motor. I am also upgrading the flex drive and putting an offset rudder. I have been looking at the leopard 4082 4092. Which one would be best for all around running with 4s 5s and 6s configurations? Also what kv would be best to run all 3 safely. I am also not sure what props to pick out for the 3 different battery configurations. I also have a seaking 180 esc.

I don't have enough experience to know the answers to your questions off of the top of my head, but I would recommend using some of the online FE calculators available. Checkout OSE's FE calculator or try this one (my goto FE calculator) http://www.radiocontrolinfo.com/rci-fe-boat-calc/. I like the latter because they already have the Leopard and SeaKing products configured (as well as Octura and Prather props); all you have to do is select them and click submit. Your main variables will be cell count and capacity and prop choice.

I used the calculator to come up with numbers I was happy with (speed, run time, current draw) and then posted those results as a new thread in this forum. This gave a baseline from which others could provide their input. Hope this helps; good luck and have fun.

FYI... I have the Leopard 4092 with a SeaKing 130HV on 8s in a 40" deep vee. I don't have exact speed numbers other than to say it is plenty fast enough for me (I'm more of a "basher" than a racer).

I just put a leopard 4074 2200kv running 4s in my Genesis but I'm waiting on a m445 and an m545 prop to do some testing

I am running the SSS 4082 motor with the 180 seaking esc and a 445 prop on 6s. I have a 3/16" flex cable and strut with the stock inline rudder setup I did block off the pockets on the hull overhang which help a lot... here it is in action..

I have a Daytona with Turnigy 180a ESC and Leo 4082, 2200kv. Will be running 4s for now, also have a 4092, 1480kv. The boat hasn't hit the waters yet, just waiting on a water jacket. Can't remember the prop, it's either a x440 or 442

I am leaning towards the 4082 with a octura m645 prop. According to the calculator it says I'll be around 30,000 rpm on 6s but I plan to mostly run on 5s which would be 26,000 rpm has anyone run this prop with the genesis? And is the only difference between the m series and X series the pitch of the prop?

No, the M series props are detongued versions of the X series, it has nothing to do with pitch or diameter. The first digit in an Octura model number is the pitch ratio and the second two are the diameter, i.e. 1.6 pitch ratio and 45mm diameter on the m645 in question.

Just like to point out the 1.6 isn't 1.6" pitch, the 1.6 is the pitch ratio, so in the case of an m645 prop its 1.6 x 45mm diameter which equals a 72mm pitch or 2.83" pitch.

What does it mean when you say detounged? According to the calculators they give me better performance with the motor I want to get.
