    Rigged insanity build maiden voyage

Lake was calm new boat looking good took off and she's flying 30sec in the run drive dog comes loose ok no big deal so I retrieve the boat grind a spot on the shaft tighten back up with some lock tite back in the water and she's fast but at full throttle she wants to blow over can't keep the front end down CG set per instructions, so bring her in to move the batteries forward to get some more weight up front and it helps but about 2min into the run she stops. So go and retrieve here again smoked my new motor less than 4min on it lift it up and some water out of the water pick up falls on my leg and it's super hot. This is my first outrigger not to happy at this point don't know what went wrong water pick up for motor is on the transom and set at drive shaft hight? Is that to high? Or do I have to much prop octura x645 motor is a Leo 3660 2050kv my esc is a OSE raider 150amp batteries 2 5000mha 2s 50c any advice much appreciated l have ordered another motor and thinking about moving the water pick up to behind the prop?

Scratch that, sorry. Try a smaller prop to start. Definitely get the water from behind the prop. Hanging off the transom gives you little or nothing.

Motors don't usually smoke unless they have a short or something and this can happen at the factory. Also when motors go bad they usually take the esc with them. I don't think there was anything wrong with your prop size. That motor is big enough to swing it. I think you just got a bad motor. The best place for the pick up behind the prop is up behind the tips of the prop. Not the center. Props throw water up, you're not getting much from the center of the prop.
