    Genesis motor upgrade ideas...

I'm looking for a motor for a 6s and 8s setup. I have upgraded the drive to a 3/16" flex drive and I have the 180 ESC in the boat too.. Looking for the next step.

Some thoughts. It's a challenge when one wants to bridge 2 different voltages in that whatever you choose is likely to compromise wither one or the other. You could go to something like a Leo 4082 1600KV. You could use the 1800KV too but its risky and def won't take 8S! The 1600 KV is less risky (though its still unloaded 45,000 + RPM on 8S....) and its easier on the T180.

I run a Leo 4092 1730KV on 6S. It typically pulls around 32-34,000 RPM but loaded it can also pull 220 amps for a few seconds as well, so beware of getting too aggressive: I had to ditch my T180 and buy a Swordfish. You could go to the 1480 KV version but you will be exceeding Leopard's recommended voltage.... Given that you are running 2 motors (yes?) then I would think your whole driveline inc ESC's should be better suited to running the 4082 1600KV

Be careful about what motor manufacturers say about max amp loads on their specific motors as well. This does NOT mean that is the maximum they can draw or you can experience. For example my Leo 4092 has drawn peak loads of over 240 amps -Leopard says 140....

We have a guy at our club that runs a similar size cat to a Genesis and he uses SSS 2200KV on 6S for SAW purposes (about 125 KPH) but he does not use that config for racing. That sort of says it all.
