Building a new twin 41", my Zonda has 38 mm motors ,I want buy 4082 cans for this build ,is there any practicle reason not to run a larger can? Does it draw more amps? Weight? Please advise, thanks

It would allow better quality choices. But unless you are unhappy with how it runs why change it.

If so what KV are yours? I have a Fantasm which is the same boat.

    Build thread if interested.

It's for sale here ,it's a41" HOR cat ,I want to buy it and install motors ,I have 2seaking 180 ESC ,I was going to put 4082 leopard 2000 kv motors ,will run on 6s,I have a Zonda with 2150 high end motors that screams on 5-6 s ,my other boats are breaking up so I was going to rob the parts out of them just need motors ,it comes with props but dosent say which ones ,he ran 1800 kv ,so does a bigger can draw more amps, like a power hog?

Not necessarily , it can depend on the effiency of the motors. Remember a D wind sucks way more juice than a Y. But the D will have more torque.

But I would say there would not be much extra power consumption or weight gain. At least from a physical standpoint.

I'm sticking with leopard motors I have a bunch of them for my buggies ,I haven't seen that D or Y wind lifted before ,new info thanks ,do you know what type leopards are.? I guessing D because they have a ton of power, also some come with 4 mm bullets and some with 6 mm,all the ones on eBay are 4, the ones at OSE are 6 ,I wonder if the motors are different or just the connectors? I've been running motors I took out if buggies for the summer, trying different KV,

You would have to look the motor up on the Leopard site.
Eg: I was running Y's and switched to D's which were 70 KV higher. Running the same props the actual RPM went up as did the speed. But my run time suffered by 25%. The Y's had kinda topped out with that set of props.
I just checked out the boat you are looking at. It is nice. A little heavy on epoxy but it will be solid. You may want to trim that rudder down a bit.

As far as connectors goes, I run 5.5's on the motor side. I feel 4mm would be a tad small.

I just looked at the Leopards here and and under the 'selections' it does list D or Y

If you have 1800's stick with them. Props are cheaper to play with. Motors will last forever on 6s at 1800kv

Well I have several 2150 kv motors but no 1800 that I can rob from a buggy, but I only have 3s lipos so I run 6s so maybe I should buy 1800 motors to keep the RPM down ,

Sorry pal I had to getaway on a couple day camp trip.
Ya I would go with 1800'ish kv. If looking at new I would take a TPpower over a Leopard. They are priced about the same but a TP will be more efficient. I may be biased here but this is my experience.
So how did the Genesis go?

It's center ballance is 13 " from the rear of a 36" boat ,the motor was making a little noise so I stopped ,bearings ,I'll test it next sat, looking for a 648 prop, made some stupid fast runs with my Zonda tho ,that was cool ,

I know I have an Octura 648 here ready to go. Just a single in the Genesis then right?
What size are you running on it now?

Oh yeah, may have a CNC 648 here I am just not sure which direction as I know I broke a tip off one of the pair. I'll try to have a look tonight.

The CNC is the right hand that I have here. BTW don't spin them up past 42,000rpm
