Aquacraft Gold motors, 1800kv front plate stripped threads, Help

I have a gold AQ 1800kv motor with lots of life left in it except at least 2 treads are stripped.

What size up should I go to?

I have all taps, metric or SAE.

Would 6-32 do it or should I go to 4mm? Fine thread would be best yes, no???

Help please, no rush, it's a spare.

Take front plate off?? How?

I would use the size that would be the least amount of work to modify the motor mount
