    Zonda/Phantasm motor upgrade recommendation

I've been running my 41" CF Zonda/Phantasm with the stock SSS 3674, 2000kv motors, Seaking 120A ESCs, 1.4x45mm CNC props, 5S 70C Silver Revo Electric batteries and the batteries are overheating the batteries. I'm considering replacing the motors with Leopards 40xx, but not settled on the motor kv. Thinking of 4074, 1800kv or 2000kv or ... ? I want the speed, but am concerned about damaging batteries.
    ???

If the escs are surviving, but batteries are getting hot my guess is you're running them down way too low. This setup should pull quite a few amps, nothing wrong with that but you just need to be really careful when discharging packs below a certain point

When you put them back on the charger they should all be 3.8 volts, every single time, no lower. In my experience batteries heat up at an exponential rate the further you discharge them below 3.85v.

      I'll check my batteries.
The 5S battery with 1.4 pitch x 45mm prop per stock SSS 3674 2000kv motor is probably more then 35,000 RPM, a bit beyond it's rating. Would a Leopard 4074 2000 be more capable or should I come down to 1800kv or would you recommend a 4082 motor (not sure if those would fit)?

Good reason the starboard battery and motor were so hot. Motor bearings shot. Quite a bit of lateral play at the shaft, quite noisy.
