Best Speed LMT/ESC/Lipo Combo for KBB45

    Hey guys,

I'm planning on doing a KBB45 build and was wondering what you guys thought would be a good LMT, ESC, and cell count combo purely for speed purposes?
I definitely want to go 100mph with room to push it to 130mph :)

I've read about guys even with 1950 LMT's pushing this kind of hull into the 100mph+ so perhaps I don't really have to have a beefy 2250 LMT to go fast. Maybe a 2230 would do it.
I want to be in the 50-55k or more rpm range.

For ESC I was thinking either 28026 MGM for 6s or maybe 25036 MGM for 7s or 8s.
Any benefit in going with the Pro versions versus the Lite's?
Perhaps it maybe worth going with a KBB SF 300 instead of MGM 25036's? It's certainly cheaper and has better specs.

Does the KBB45 even have much space to fit 2x 4s 5500mah's in the sponson? I noticed Keven's build on another thread mentioning even 7s was a tight fit.

Let me know what you guys think!

All I can tell you is the pro version mgm has a few more settings allowed in the software that the lite does not allow. One is rpm limiting. I personally don't think it's worth the extra money. I've had (actually have still) both.

130 mph? You do realize that this is "pro-level" SAW territory reached only by a very few racers in the world? You will not get there without having absolutely top tier components, and you a WILL blow the boat off the water. Most hulls will not survive such a crash. There is a huge difference between 100 mph and 130 mph......like the difference between a P-51 and an F-15. I strongly suggest that you attend the LA SAWs in November and watch the few 130 mph cats and what they use to reach that speed. This is not for the weak of heart. Hope to see you there.

        Yea I do know this.

I'm also thinking to upgrade my Shocker to some 1950/5 LMT's as well. Maybe along with some MGM 28026's to go with it.

I just figure that if I'm paying 4 times more money for motors that I'll at least be able to push it an extra 20 mph... seeing how it didn't take much effort to get this thing to 100mph using "cheap" TP 4050 motors along with 6s 5500mah on each side. I think the sheer increase in RPM (and reduction in weight by using lighter batteries) would probably give that 20-30% increase in speed that I'm looking for unless you say otherwise?

Allow me to lay so things out there for you. First off lmt motors aren't voodoo or some sort of magic. They are a quality motor but in my experience and testing a comparable neu motor will be close to it. I had a 2260 1644kv lehner in my mono. It went 90mph with a prop done by me. Went 91 with a Dasboata tweaked prop. Then I pulled it out (motor burnt up) and I put a 1500kv neu in it and it went 84.7 with a prop done by me. I didn't get to tweak this combo (which I think would have resulted in the same speed with less kv) because someone bought it from me. Now I'm having a neu motor with the same kv as the lehner custom made to do a more fair comparison. My prediction is it will be about the same speed but pulling less amps. The 2 pole lehner pulled a good bit more amps than the 4 pole neu btw.
