Great question, I don't know, how would I be able to tell. I bought them about 2 months ago from rcgroup, they came in a CF Fantasm. The previous owner told me that they were new, they do look like new ones. Do you know the boat. it was originally built by KB.http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2327310

The new motors run 5x11 bearings with the front one flanged. The old motors run 5x16 bearings.
If the motors you have are new style you can see venting at the output end of the motor, you can see it at the face of the mount

As opposed to the old which is a closed can and you will just see the bolts against the mount face
