New Style on NEU MOTOR CANS?

I am just curious: had my Neu 1515 repaired and it finally came back after two and half month. I am very impressed with the quality of their product and this repaired motor is no exception.
They told me all it needed was a new stator, but upon opening the box, I can immediately tell that the can is different: I had a glossy black one with the two piece front end but now it is matte black and the front venting holes are much bigger, it made the size of the bearing look larger as well. Also the hard wires are longer out of the stator windings.
I admit that I am not knowledgeable enough to say that I have seen most the versions of the Neu motor cans, so I just want to know if it is common to get a different can when replacing a new stator, I guess my old can will be replaced with a new stator and going to someone else?

Look closely. The front bearing is now bigger. That's how my new versions are. Old versions have the same size bearing front a rear which is a 17mm diameter. I'll be home in a minute and I'll look and see if some are shiny and dull. I think i have both. Stay tuned. I have 6 neu motors I can look at.

        Ok...

I've got a brand new 1521 dated 8/13/2014, wires are medium length, big front bearing, satin finish, allen screws

I have a 1521 from 2013, short very heavy Gauge wire, small front bearing, shiny can, allen screws

1521 1/5/2011, shiney, short heavy Gauge wires, small front bearing, silver Phillips screws on the front plate, black Phillips on the rear.

1521, newish, satin can, long wires, big bearing, allen screws.

1515, unknown date, around a rear old, satin can. Small bearings, allen screws

1515, unknown date, shiny can, shorter wires that the above 1515, Phillips screws

1527 dated 11/26/2013, satin can, large front bearing, allen screws, the only one with soft flexible wires.

Note, if it's a motor from last year, chances are it has a yellow kevlar wrap on the rotor unless it was custom built and asked for. They now all have a stronger black carbon wrap. This does not mean every motor that's older is kevlar wrap because I have an older 1515 with a carbon wrap. This is my observation and in talking to neu about it, this is what I was told in general.

I forgot when i bought this motor exactly, it was for my Popeye so it had to be end of 2013 or the first 3 months of 2014. At the time I noticed the front was different than my other 1515 which looked like this one on the OSE site:http://www.offshoreelectrics.com/pro...u-1515&cat=117 That one had recessed screws holding the rear endbell.
This one ( Popeye motor) had Allen bolts in front and protruding Philips screws on the back end bell. The venting holes are smaller than the repaired/returned motor. Now it has larger front bearing and very protruding Allen bolts holding the rear end bell. it has ZERO shaft end play!
I honestly don't know too much about Neu other than the 1515 and an older 2230 and 2215.
Thank you again as usual for your time and patience!

            Anytime!

Honestly in my opinion it looks like they change them up a lot. The spacers and washers are different from time to time. Hate to say it but it may be what they have in stock to use at that time. Still excellent motors nonetheless
