2100kv on 6s with that ESC is asking for trouble. You have inbound PM coming.
You havent mentioned the prop, thats a huge part in whats happening, what is the size, as mentioned already 6s is an issue as well, they can be ran as 5s but 6s is really pushing the envelope.
is it best if i use 2 x 2s lipos ? or use a better esc . which esc can i use ?
You need to ask yourself what do you want to get out of this set up?
A boat like yours with a 2200kv motor on 4s and a M445 or x642 can easily reach 53 or 54 miles and that is with only minor tuning, if you go the extra step to blue print your sponsons and spend more time dialing in, more speed can be achieved.
Now, if that is the more or less your goal for now, my suggestion is to keep you motor and get a Seaking 180A ESC V3 and run 4s. (2x2s, but on a big motor I prefer to run 4s2p)
If you want to run 6s, you need to get a kv that is suitable to run on 6s, around 1600kv I would say, then you still can run with the suggested ESC.
Either way, you will be spending a bit of money.
Is the BJ 29" even suitable to handle 6s with a 2000kv'ish mill ?.
I've seen quite a few on 5s. They were rocket ships but really squirrelly in the top end, just like the 29" sprint kitty or mm with the same 6s setup on an m445 prop.
I only said IF he wants to run 6s, I mentioned that only because the OP might not want to invest in new batteries. A motor with a suitable kv to run 6s is OK in this hull.
I ran my MG with a Leopard 4082/2200kv on 6s, was my first real FE boat and it lasted 30 sec. ( no explosion and fire, was very anti-climatic compared to some of the experiences posted lately here). That said, the run lasted much less time than the OP's, and was with a Seaking 120ESC. All this was set up and on the recommendation from a certain boat builder from the EAST COAST. He calls the modded MG a "Hot Rod", I bought into it in more ways than one. I have him to thank for because that afternoon I signed up here at the forum and have been learning ever since.
Damn Tiim, are we a lil' testy since you can't have any more coffee before bed ? .... I was just curious if it was a suitable hull for say the notorious 2200kv 6s setup ?. With as fast and squirrelly as the BJ's I've seen on 5s were, I think they were only suitable for 6s if they had wings . I know my 29" meanie' with the 3674 2350kv mill, 5s, m445 prop & a rudder that hangs 3.5" below the transom's is so fast & squirrelly its unreal. Idk how the heck Jorn markset' is getting his to handle on 6s 2200kv, its onsane
I think you guys may be jumping to conclusions, as he never mentioned cell count or even attempting to run on 6s. Unless I am missing someting, "traxxas vxl 6s and it had powered by castle on it" is the speed controller he fried and not the actual cell count he was using. Any event, I will agree the Seaking 180 v3 is about as bulletproof as one can get.

Days ago, he posted another thread with another question that got no response (wasn't about burning up ESC), then I responded, got a PM from OP yesterday same time as he was posting this thread, at least in that message he has mentioned running 6s on this set up. I should have been more clear. Then again, may be he wasn't... these things can always come back and bite the respondent.

I have had 2 BlackJack 29's and ran both on 6s for over a year. The only esc that had an issue was the old Seaking 120 but that was because I was waaaaaayyyyy over propped at the time ( I was a newby to FE thinking bigger diameter prop means faster, boy was I wrong ). You can run a 2200KV motor , Seaking 180 V2 or V3 on 6S and be fine in the 445, 545, 642, 447, and even 448 range. Of Course this set up is for if you want to make about 6-7 speed runs but not for riding around in a circle in race heats for 5+ minutes. Your temps will also run anywhere from 113 on the motor /esc to 135/140 depending on how hard you push it. If you want a decent speed boat where you can ride around and just enjoy the scenery and breeze then 4s with the aformentioned set ups is idea, but if you wanna see a BlackJack go 65-70mph go the route I suggested but be aware of your run time and passes. Again, my set up is for 6-7 high speed passes, not for recreational cruizen.
