    Well this can't be good......

I took my motor apart tonight to put some new ceramic bearings in. I found something. ...

Did I ever get lucky! This explains the slower speeds last run...

If anyone has a 1521 rotor they would sell.....hit me up. Until then I'm down for the count......

Dam, a little setback to the triple digits. What causes that?

I'm going to say at high rpm the 5mm shaft flexes. Time to get an 8mm shaft motor....

Why not clean off the existing wrap and redo. Have done a few. It's not hard. Steve

Good call. When the Neu 1521 and 1527 motors first came out several years ago, it didn't take long to find out that at high rpm the 5mm shaft whipped, causing this. I'll not have any motor of these lengths that does not have an 8mm shaft if I intend to push it hard.

I did some research last night on that. I didn't find much. I'm not sure what material to use and epoxy to use....

Just cooked a 1521 winding, was going to send it back or maybe just keep it for parts. I'll let you know if I want to just part with the rotor.

                  Thanks!

I'm a little bit of a hurry because weather is going to get cold soon so I ordered a new rotor. ....and get this...

I talked Sylvia and I was able to order a custom rotor the way I wanted it. So it's 8mm shaft, stepped down to a 5mm at the collet. I have a mbp and didn't want to order another...so I got the best of both worlds! They have to make it for me but will ship out on monday. Simply awesome!!!

P.s. yes I bought the 8mm bearings to convert it too...

It's also getting a custom made rotor with a stronger wrap and about a 1524 length rotor (magnet length a little longer. Yes i got new shims amd spacers for it! I cant wait. Sounds like it's gonna be a little power house when I get it back together!

Will do! I was told my kv will go down a little with the longer rotor....not sure why...but the wattage is supposed to go up about 500w. My amp draw is supposed to stay the same. I ordered a kv meter today so I can check it when it comes in. I'll post my findings.

That's gonna be a trick little motor now, plus it's a one off custom! I'd get the epoxy and recoat that one and keep it for a spare.

I think I'm going to re wrap it and keep for a spare. It's gonna be a trick motor for sure. All my positive talking about it and my luck....it'll go slower...lmao!
