Bought a 1527 2d 1150kv, no what do I put it in.

Just bought a NEU 1527 2d NEW off ebay with water jacket ... Has the smaller 5mm shaft.

Question is if I decide to do a single in my FC cheetah will 10s1p be to much for the hull?

I also was going to build a 37-40" mono over the winter so I could use it for that I'm sure.... Just wondering if I could use it in the cheetah?

I bought it for $170 shipped to my door via best offer which he accepted so it was a good enough deal I had to buy it!! Lol

I run one in a 41 inch delta force. Needs 12s to get get going. Ussually runs a Prather 245. Around 100 amps draw and runs cool all the time Speeds in the low 60s. These were made mainly for the ducted fan guys. Most had glued in rear housings. A simply matter of drilling and tapping 3 2/56 bolts around the housing if needed. Great motor. Steve

Here are the pics to the motor, again got it off ebay.... Does it look like the edf version as far as the rear motor plate? Says it was new only mounted and there is no flat ground on the shaft....

Lol you can tell I'm getting like the old days and see a good deal even if I don't need it I buy it... Haha...

Yeh I was worried it might be to much for the cheetah..

No. That is fine. Has a pinned rear housing.

I might just say heck with it, after receiving the cheetah it looks like it's a easy single or twin hull to build, lots of room... Even enough so that one can get their hands on the inner transom easy enough... But I do see a ton of singles....

Trevor what are you using for hardware? Do you mind sharing me the info lol

Those motors with 5 mm shafts are known to have shaft whip at higher rpm, that's why they make the 8mm shaft versions. I would never run that motor on 10S!

great motor but I would keep it 8S max...my buddy has a cheetah with a 1521 on 6S 44-45mm prop its Faast ! that 1527 on 6S-8S 50mm prop would be impressive ... DJ

Mine is a 1y. I had it in my shocker on 8s and it hauled. I'm sure it was over 70mph. I'll be running a swordfish 240 pro plus2 esc. 8s revolectrix batteries. Savox waterproof servo. New kintec long carbon motor mount. I'm going over kill on most everything as I want it to be as reliable as could be. My speed goal is ultimately 70mph which is very hard with this cat because it's very wide and has lots of tunnel lift. Best I could muster with my first cheetah was 62mph. I am a bit more experienced now so I might be able to get a little squeeze a little more. I will be purposely adding a little weight in the bottom of the hull to help with this. You see where I'm going with this?.......add weight but over power it a bit.....maybe I'll get there...maybe I won't. We shall see! This is what I'm using for hardware...





I machined that offset bracket. I could not find exactly what I wanted so I made it myself. I'll be using a 1/4" shaft with an mbp billet collet. I already have everything for it. Just have to find time to get to it.

10s not a good idea but understand why the other person said 10s, they thought it was the same wind.

I would say like 8s2p would be great. I think it would work in a cheetah to be honest and very well at that.

You can have the Carbon Fiber Drag Hydro if you like (http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2257589) and then sell it back to me if/when you get bored with the setup. The Hydro was apparently a one of a kind build as they used Carbon Fiber instead of fiberglass and then sent it away for a custom paint job. Hacker was suppose to get into marine motors and use this boat as the advertising boat...but Aero-Models decided to go a different route.

If you decide to go with a twin in the Cheetah then please keep me posted as that's exactly the type of setup I'd like to build this winter! :)

I've been wanting to build a hydro. I picked up a small one a few days ago. My buddy is sending me a neu motor for it.

Ran one of these in 09' in a H&M Maritimo on 10s.
Absolutely insane. I bought the hull used so I played with it while then moved on.
I would definitely recommend 8s.
If you decide to use this combo in the Cheetah, you will need to reinforce the hull.
I just blew mine apart yesterday running 4s
