    motor question, leopard or neu

trying to make a decision on a twin cat build besides the obvious price difference of motors what makes a neu worth twice as much $. Will they last longer, perform better what ? any and all opinions welcomed, thanks in advance

personally They are better built, finished, are more tolerant to heat, and I believe more efficient......I have used one in a savage flux,2 boats and others and they work great and have tons of torque. However if you aren't so picky about these things then leopards are good for the money as well just maybe make more heat and have less precision overall. You will find diff opinions but just saying from personal experience

You get what you pay for in this case. No question that the Neu is considerably more efficient and more powerful. They last longer and run cooler. They tolerate higher temps so are less likely to take out your ESCs. If you sell them you get more $$$.

That said many figure that Leo's are better because they have "more value". Your choice, but you will never regret buying a Neu.

If you willing to pay the extra $$ then NEU..... a pair of Lehners are also a good choice for a cat.

The way i see it, you will go through 2 or 3
Leopards for every neu. Balancing is better and heat is less. Look at the wires on a neu motor. Even on 1521 they dont have to use large gauge wires. Best for the price is relative. Try getting a leopard repaired for free.

neu is way better. i also like the castle motors. they are very good for the price ( only a bit more than leopards)

It took me a while to understand the difference between rc boats and almost every other form of RC. With boats the weak link will be exploited immediately often having catastrophic consequences. With my slash and 1/8 Scale truggy and to a lesser degree planes, a problem didn't lead to a total loss. With a boat it can and does. Get the best equipment you can afford, listen to the senior guys on the forum and if in doubt. Prop down esc up, gauge up, connector up etc... Etc..

You are so right and on top of that the learning curve is steep and expensive.

I ran my 29" mono on a neu 1515 2200kv vs. a friend's 29" mono on leopard 4074 2200kv. Similar prop/speed. My motor ran cooler and I had longer runtimes-- but we ran different brand battery packs so not apples and oranges... (hyperion vs. turnigy). My boat was heavier too.
