Leopard motor and SF speedy cut out

If the motor hits it thermal cut out will the speedy still arm when you power it up? Running it today and the boat stopped in the lake when I got out there the motor felt warm but took about 5 mins to get out there. Was a fair bit of water in the hull and not sure if it just stopped cause I got some water in it. Put in on the bench and sprayed with wd-40 left to sit and on second try it all powered up. On first try servo worked but running ubec and nothing from motor or speedy. Hoping it will be ok gonna test it tomorrow any ideas? Water or temps?

you should use Corrosion X not WD40. WD40 is not the nicest thing to put on an esc. It is possible the esc is still wet or has water damage.

I would unplug the esc from receiver let everthing dry out in the sun. Sometimes you'll get water in the boat and the esc wire can get wet causing the connection to be poor.

Mulisha you *can* get corrosion x in oz. look up Defender Tuning.

What you find in some boats when they stop dead in the water is that water leaks in through the stuffing tube because it is below the waterline. If the boat keeps moving the whole run then that is limited. Some guys run a small lenghth of silicone water tubing on the end of the stuffing tube and onto the cable drive to prevent that.

Speedy will definitely need some treatment if it got water in it. All you can do is treat and test.

without a temp sensor to the esc the motor will not have a thermal cut out or shut down..
your esc should have this but motors do not..
if they get hot enough to shut down, then the magnets are to hot and the motor has internal damage

Ok so more than likely it was an issue with the speedy. The whole thing is liquid electrical tape but around the power wire it had come apart slightly, and just used wd-40 to try and displace the water that all I had at the lake didn't want to leave it sit until I got home. Just gonna leave it for a few days I really hope it's not damaged
