Leopard 4050 Motor Water Jacket vs 4082 Water Jacket, Extra Long

    Hi

I have both, which do you recommened to use on my setup? (blackjack 29 leo 4082 on 6s)

    Leopard 4050 Motor Water Jacket ( http://www.offshoreelectrics.com/pro...eo-4050-jacket )
    Leopard 4074 & 4082 Water Jacket, Extra Long ( http://www.offshoreelectrics.com/pro...d=ham-leo-40XL )

The main differences are, the leo 4050 has bigger inlet/outlets but is 7 mm shorter.

The heat will disperse across the whole motor can so I would think more water flow would be better than a longer jacket, as long as your water pick up, outlet and tubes are the same size as the 4050 jacket lets otherwise your not really getting any benefit from the larger inlet/outlet because you will have some point there that will slow the water

Personally i would always go with a longer jacket providing theirs no problems getting it in the boat or mount, longer jacket covers more surface area on the motor.

It's only 7mm difference I would rather more water flow over 70-80% of the can to slow water flow over 90%. The heat will transfer along the whole can, it's not like what ever isn't covered by the jacket is going to get red hot

I'd go for the shorter can, higher flow, push it back to the rear and the exit nipple at 90 degrees or 12 o' clock
