I am looking at putting a new motor in an Osprey Deep Vee, for operation on 6S.
Options I am considering are the 4082 or 4092. In particular :-
4082-B/2Y 1600Kv 3500W 140A 33V, or
4092/3.5D 1480Kv 4200W 115A 23V
I don't often hear of people using the 4092 - mainly seems to be the 4082 (which I have in my Genesis and it goes really well).
I was thinking that the Osprey is a larger and heavier boat than the Genesis so a slightly bigger and more powerful motor may be benefical. It doesn't cost much more.
However, the specs for the 4092 seems inconsistent with what I expected. It is a 4200W motor, but the maximum current and maximum voltage is significantly less that of the 3500W 4082. How can this be?
I know one is a Y winding and the other a D winding, but still the specs don't look right, and this makes me nervous choosing the 4092. Also, the max voltage of 23V for the 4092 looks a bit close to the limit for 6S.
Can anyone shed some light on all of this. Which motor is going to be preferable?
Cheers,
Jon
