    which motor

    Hey Guys;
    I am just getting ready to do a build on a 30" vee hull and I am not sure as to what motor and esc would suit this boat.I have been looking at the leopard mtrs and was considering either a 3674 2200kv or 4074 2200kv.Can someone guide me in the right direction.Size of prop,size of flex cable have trim tabs and turn fins,i figure the rudder would be at least 4" long.So any help would be greatly appreciate it.I am also building a twin genesis and almost done but getting the flex shafts for it.OSE has the ones I need.Only thing is Can not water test it till the spring,not unless I install ski's like my rustler,which also has chains on the rear tires.It does move out really good just watch the turns.....
    Time to shovel the snow.........

    Frost down here this morning buddy. So which hull is it?
    4074 would be nice.Anything up to M445,M545,M645. 645 may torque it over a bit depending on the hull.A 3674 would move it most likely though.You got nice cool water up there year round to keep things comfortable. I'm going to run this rudder on my Pursuit http://www.offshoreelectrics.com/pro...prod=ose-80050 And ESC would depend on the motor and possible props.

      I do not know which hull it is,all I know is that it is a mono hull.Looks like the 3674 is the most likely motor to use.With that;what do you recommend for an esc and props.If you want pics of the hull let me know.I can post some here.

        I would go for the 4074 2200kv and run 4s.

        M445 would be good starting point.

          thanks bass; do you think the 4074 2200kv would be to much for this size of hull.One person stated that the 4074 might torque it over a bit with the m645 prop..The m445,m545,(or m645?) props would be ok.I will be buying items I need from OSE.Dealt with them before,great service.

            The M445 seems to be popular on the 32" Pursuits, your boat sounds to be slightly less in size and I would imagine said prop would work well. I have/had a 4074 2200kv in my 32" pursuit and it seemed rather healthy. Numerous setbacks made it so I havent got a full run in yet. Im switching out to a 4082 2200 TP Power to give it a try.

              You should be able to get away with a Seaking or Swordfish 120 ESC with a 3674 and 40-42 mm props.You would want a bigger ESC for the 4074 and 45mm props.A pic would help as some hulls have hooks that make them run wet and increase load.

                  I will take some pics later and then post them.Looks like I have quite a few setup possibilities for this hull.Will have to decide and once I do I shall let all know.This hull was purchased on line,for the price,could not say no..What esc would be suitable for the 4074 2200kv?I found out that OSE has a complete hardware package for mono hulls for just under a $100.00.Check it out and let me know what you all think about this package. Have a great day

                    The 180 Turnigy/Hobbywing seems to be the proven choice of MANY. Its what I use.

                    OSE carries the speedmaster hardware thats nice. Southriverrcboats.com also carries them and the Etti. The Etti rudder & stinger looks like a good combo. Would need to ream the stinger out to 1/4" for 3/16" cable though. Not a big job...

                    Kintecracing.com has a variety of hardware. Choose your poison! I DO NOT like the stinger where theres a gap between the barrel and the transom... Seems to be a place for water to make it in the hull. Just a word of warning.

                      Re the gap between the front of the stinger barrel letting in water, this is a simple fix that many have used now. place a couple of O rings between the barrel & the transome. I use 6mm bore silicon exhaust tube & cut a piece around 1/4" long & this fits between the stinger & hull, you get perfect seals with no water entering.

                        The 180 is what I have been looking at.Checked out the items with southriverrcboats nothing there tickles my fancy.So I will probably go with the setup OSE has for under $100.00. Everything is matched,takes out the guessing.I have had the same problem twice and found that the fix Martin suggests works like a charm.Heard about this solution awhile back.Thanks for all the suggestions,i will have to think about this and make a decision as to the route I am going.
