Looking to build a fast FCR Rivercat. Thought about a castle 1717 on 6s or so. Would that be too much motor the cat? Torque roll?? Looking for opinions for a fast single setup for a 32" Rivercat. Thanks,MM.
Castle 1717 too big for a FCR 34" Rivercat???

IIRC the "River Cat" was 32" long, a splash of the H&M Agitator. I have a copy of that copy, ran ~89 mph on 6s in SAW form when setting a record. A tip - use 2S and 4S packs, with the 4S on the left side to balance torque roll. Keep prop diameter under 48mm, for a non-SAW boat a max of 45mm. The hull will handle a lot of speed, but only on smooth water, and setup is critical. You will have to get imaginative to find room for enough flotation in the hull with that heavy motor and 6 cells.

Sorry, it is 32" long. Duh!!! I was looking at other cats and got confused. I'll change the title if possible. So a castle 1717 w/ a CC 240hv should do the job? Maybe a neu 1530 w/ a cc240hv? Fluid any other suggestion to get good performance? Doing some looking before I buy. Thanks for looking,MM.Comment

Just what are your goals for the boat? If you had a 1717 you could use it but it would not be my first choice for the hull. While the hull can handle plenty of speed it doesn't turn well, a long rudder helps that. If run time is important to you then run 6S1P but prop to speeds in the 50s. A motor with a Kv of 1200-1400 would work well on 6S for longer run times. That hull is entirely suited to 4S too, and a 36 or 40mm motor with a Kv around 2000-2200 will give lively performance. It really depends on what you want.
