I don't think the internal temps seen by an air cooled motor that measures 180 at the can would rival the internal temps that a boat will create. 140 at the can in a water cooled setup is not the same as 140 at the can in an air cooled setup. The difference in surface temp vs. interior temp will be far greater in a water cooled setup.

Absolutely. It may be a while though...hull is being laid up now, paint may take a while...it's going to be a bit before I have it in my hands. Luckily for me I have another crazy personal project here to keep me busy.Comment

I've been known to build a large boat or two and I highly recommend going the 2230 route. My latest was a Hanspeter 92" cat using 2230 1y on 12s and 6518 props. I think the boat is close to 90 mph and your right if there not hauling they look slow. Now having said that I also think the lesser motors will work. You just have to keep your runtime short to make sure the motors don't get hot. I think as long as they don't get hot you can push them pretty hard. I'm sure you already know twins really do help each other out and let you push them harder than a single drive.

We used to race at Sharp park in Lansing. Then the pond shrank..........or we out grew it. We're east side. Shelby twp. We do have race planned on a bigger pond in August if you want to try your hand. Not with this beast of course. We do have a member that comes in from Lansing.
Sancuer was doing glass on a 96" cat for Borsche who's fron G.Rap too. Pat had molds for a 72 skater looking boat in the shop too. Thought maybe that was it.
Not many people with the patience or resources to go for it on a big proeject like this. I find them fascinating.Noisy personComment

I don't have much in terms of resources, but I'm willing to work for the things I want. I think that's really something a lot of people miss in this hobby. I take nothing off of my family's table for my hobby. Every build I do is funded by means outside of my normal income, meaning I don't take money out of our bank account or my pay checks. My paypal account is a revolving door for RC funds (land and sea). I've built quite a few boats for people and I always put any profit I have back into the hobby. I view everything I do as R&D, whether it be learning tricks by building the same hull 20 times, or testing crazy setups in my personal boats.
I have a website that will be up soon - keithbradleyboats.com - and I will allow people to purchase some of the things I've designed, as well as use the site for a resource. I may even make a section for others to submit their tips/tricks/designs/ideas to go up on the site.
I plan on using this build to further myself in the rhelm of FE boating, and use what I learn to build and design boats and parts that I may have otherwise not thought of. It's hard for me to justify this expensive build, but I find that if I keep "putting in" to an area in life, and I work hard in that area, it will come back to me. It is this philosophy that has allowed me to get to the point where I can take on a build like this. I started out by buying a used, beat up mono that needed work. I couldn't afford lipos at first, but I came up with the money for them within a couple weeks. I slowly began to climb the FE ladder, learning as I go.
I know you didn't ask for my life story, but I also know a lot of people (young people especially) look at these types of builds and "wish" they could do one. To those people: You can, eventually.Comment

By the way, my twin 2028s came today, thanks to the fast shipping from OSE. They do look lovely...I can almost get past the green!Comment

Keith, I try to do the same thing. Suppliment my income here and there where I can. I do a lot of favors. I believe in that circle of kindness coming back to you thing. I've gotten away from bigger builds but I apparently have a lot of boats. Mostly race boats though. Eventually I'll have a boat for every class.
Looks like for our race we'll be running all the spec classes and then open mono, open cats, and 1/8 scale. One more stone to turnover tomorrow so that we can firm it all up. It will show up in the upcoming races section.Noisy personComment
