    leopard motor for 41" cat?

Hey I'm trying to figure out which leopard motor to get for my Mhz isiklar 41" cat. I have been running t600s one smoked so I'm looking for a new motor setup. I run 5s each side with turnigy 180s. I was thinking figtercat 1600kv outrunners problem is I need water cooled mounts and really don't want to tear my boat apart. this got me thinking leopard 4074s or 4082s. Will twin 4082s on 5s and x447s just be too much for this boat? I'm curious how the 4082 stacks up with t600 the boat almost flips with fresh packs from a standstill lol. I don't want more than 65-70 mph btw. Thanks guys

I would go minimum for the 4082 as they have more power then the 4072 so you have more reserve

It is normal for many cats to rear up when you apply plenty of throttle from a dead stop. As for the question - is 5S and x447s too much.....you'll have trouble getting 70 mph with stock x447mm props. You'd need motors with a Kv around 2200 on 5S, a pretty hot setup but probably doable if you are careful. What speeds did you get with the T600 setup? Why did the motor fail?

Not sure why it failed something came loose one of the three wires seperated from the motor and it got super hot. I use to run on 4s boat was bulletproof with 1400 kv t600s. I would say low 40s not too fast but reliable. I just want a faster boat thats still reliable and doesn't pull a ridiculous amount of amps.

Twin 4074's around 2200 kv will work excellent. You'll be well intO the 70's with the x447's

That speed makes sense for what you had in the boat. To make a reliable 70 mph boat: speed, run time, reliability - choose any two. I'd recommend getting the 4082 Leopards:

            Good reliability:
For 4S each motor, 2000 Kv. With the 47mm props top speed will be around 50 mph.
            For 5S each motor 1800 Kv. With the 47mm props...upper 50s.

            Lower reliabililty:
            For 5S each motor 2000 Kv. With the 47mm prop...mid 60s.

Reliability means different things to different people, and some may recommend going to 2200 Kv motors, 5S and bigger props. You can do that or go to bigger props with a milder setup - but how important is raw speed to you versus not having to mess with the boat too much? You will have to decide that yourself.

Reliability over raw speed for sure. The mhz boat is great i think it can take a lot of speed people get the micro iceberg up to 60 mph and its a 17 inch long version of my boat lol. I want this thing to rip so 1800 kv it is on 5-6s. Nice thing about fe boating you can always drop the pack size for sport running. Thanks a lot fluid and everyone else for the ideas.

reliability won't be an issue at 2200kv, either. I have built several twin cats with that exact, or very similar setup with zero failures.
It will run right, (reliably) every time, if set up properly. This is coming from experience.
