Motor studder: Whats going on here?

After putting in two different new Leopard 3660 4650KV motors in my Blackjack I'm still getting the same result: Big time motor studder. So much, that the ESC/motor wires heat up in just a few seconds of trying it to make it work. Like it's a dead short between the ESC & motor. I'm talking 8 and 6 mm bullets with 10 gage wire here - Tried two different new motors, rotated the motor wires, re-checked the T180 settings. Won't make a single revolution - just studders. I'm trying to isolate the cause, but still searching for answers.

Here's the setup: 3660/4650KV motor; T 180 ESC, FlySky radio & receiver. Programed with card at:1-Forward only; 2-2S; 3-No Shut off protection; 4-7.5 degrees timing. LIPOS Turnigy Nanotec 5600 50-110C, getting full charge voltage of 8.37V combined; 4.18/4.19 each cell.no way it should get that hot so fast.

I've tried different timing, LVC, battery packs but same results.

And one strange thing, the program card will only work with one of the batteries? Probably nothing, but..................

I'll change out the ESC & reciever next.

    Any ideas? JIM

This may sound a bit simplistic, but have you checked the solder joints on the ESC?

Visual solder on motor wires are OK, but one failed the ohm test. Will strip it & check both wire ends. JIM

        PS: I like simplistic.

That was it: bad soldering job. Resoldered all three motor bullets - problem solved. Thanks guys!!!

NOTE: This was my first T180 ESC (1 1/2 years ago) & was still learning how to silversolder large bullets & 10 gage wires. Still room for improvement, but working on it.
