    What motor to buy?

I am going to be purchasing a 32" river cat hull from fighter cat racing and need some help choosing a brushless motor for it. I had a blackjack 26 BL for a while but sold it. I would be using the boat stricty for fun. I would like it to be fast and i plan on running anywhere from 4s to 8s for as much speed as possible. I have been looking at either the leapord brand motors from OSE or turnigy from Hobbyking. What would be the best kv rating and size? Whats the difference in a 36mm motor and a 40mm? Also what about the length? I am going to match a speed controller as soon as i pick a motor.

    Thanks!!!

Bigger the can = more torque and power. Leopard are a bit nicer than turnigy. 4s-8s is a big jump. cell count can be based on motor kv. Leo 4074 or 4082 would be good with seaking 180 esc. On 4s 2200kv will rip. 8s you want somewhere in the 1000kv range

Do a search of the forum's mate, there are a bucket load of threads in relation to this cat and the various set up's other forum members have used. Good luck and welcome to ose

Would there be any difference in choosing a motor if i went with the 37" daytona hull from fighter cat?

Probably not, I found though with the genesis hull you can load it up with a tonne of weight and it still goes great!

Yeah, motor size. In that case you don't want anything smaller than 4082 IMO.

Look up the Head of the River cat thread. There are pages upon pages of info on the 32" cat. Youll read everything you want to know about it.

what the hell seriously? a 3674 is enough for a 32in boat
                id go for a 4074 2000KV Turnigy on 4S
                cheap and will go fast!

4074 on 4s for the 32" and 4082 on 6s for the 37" is my 2 cents worth.............

You have to figure out what you want in performance. Do you want to haul arse for several minutes or just flat out rip for only 2-3 minutes? Most of the 32 inch to 37 inch cats are run on 4074 2200kv on 4s or 4082 1450 to 1600kv on 6s if you're looking at leopards. Looking at 50's with the leopard 4074 on 4s and 60's with the 4082 on 6s. 6s will be a hotter setup and you'll have to limit run times slightly. With the 4082 1450kv you can go up to 8s for really short runs 3-4 passes and you'd be looking at possibly high 70's but the Seaking 180 maxes at 6s.

So I think I have decided on the setup. I am going to stay with the 32" river cat hull. I am going to go with the Leopard 4074 2200kv on 4s. I will be using 2X 2s 5000MAH Zippy lipos in series to have a 4s setup. Still have not decided on a speed controller yet. What do you guys think for prop selection? When I had my Blackjack I used an X642 prop but I do not know if this is a good selection for the river cat on a faster setup like this. Thanks!!
