    Castle/Neu 1406 Wind Specs?

Does anyone know if the 1406 Castle/Neu series is D or Y wind? They have 4 models:

    1406-4600kv Motor
    1406-5700kv Motor
    1406-6900kv Motor
    1406 7700kv Motor

Emailed a few but got a lot of huhs?

    Hi
the pictures from castle will not help because it looks like as if all engines 1Y wind

but the ratio is about 1.73 of 1Y to 1D

An educated guess based on Neu 1400 series chart:

      7700 kv=1.5D
      6900 kv=1Y
      5700 kv=2D
      4600 kv=1.5Y

Looking at all the other Castle motors which have traditionally been Wye only winds I would also propose

      7700 kv=1Y
      6900 kv=1.5Y
      5700 kv=2Y
      4600 kv=2.5Y

That's my guess. I don't think they make a 1D as it would be closer to 9000 kv. The 7700 might be a 0.5Y and then 1y, 1.5Y and 2Y respectively.

          Good guessing guys!

I'm leaning towards the lower Kv option, but the hull has not arrived so I am not sure if it'll fit (JAE Mini Sprint)

I dont have a mini sprint but do have a renegade rigger a little smaller but id say anything over a 28mm would be overkill in power and size of battery required for a motor that size just my opinion

I have one of the 28mm leopards (2860) in a micro drifter. The wattage output is more than a 1506 series neu. The boat is stupid fast, but I have not been to impressed with the amp draw (D wind). The one thing I have heard about the 1406 motors is that they are very efficient. I was sort of hoping I could run this motor on the conservative side and (if it is a Y) get longer run time and decent performance. The other option i was looking at was a 1100 series neu (1112 or so) but again their wattage output levels are similar.

Than there's the price. You can get a 1406 for $65 ... not the worst gamble :)

The Castle/Neu 1406 motors listed are all "Y"-winds... More efficient and build less heat than D-winds... A little less "punch" off the line... This is directly from an expert at Castle Creations...
