New one is hard to spin by hand and my older one spins much easier. Is it worn or just broken in?

Which 4082? The 2200kv .5Y leopard is known to have some heat issues. It might have a demagnitized rotor. On the other hand its probably alright. I used to worry about equal size motors having the same "cogging" feel. I spoke with Neu about this and they stated its not that simple. Only way to know is to connect each motor to a equal voltage source and do a kv check. If they both spin the same rpm at the same voltage then they are in essence equal motors. I didnt like that answer because it seems to me that there is something else going on but when the factory engineer tells you this, well I guess I have to believe him.

I guess an easy way to tell if one of the motors has a demgg'd rotor is take the face plate off both and put the rotor out of the one that feels stronger in to the one with the weaker feeling rotor. Might know right off the bat by exchanging rotors.

The one with less resistance runs great. He's running consistant 60mph passes but I recently ordered a 4082 220kv and not using it at the time so I gave it to hime to try on 5s and he was only getting mid 50's the other motor that he is using is a 1500kv 4082 on 6s. Now according to my calculations he should be spinng about 4500 more rpms with the 5s setup as aposed to the 6s setup which leads me to believe that they need to be broken in. Temps were still good on the 2200kv only around 100 so its not getting that hot. The 1500kv spins almost freely and the 2200 has a ton of resistance.miss gieco cc 1518 62.1mph Delta Force 33" cc 1717Comment

Thats weird? You wouldnt think there would be any difference. I know the Neu series motors all use the same rotor. So a 1515/.5Y and 1515/5D (if theres such a critter) all share the same rotors as long as the case length is the same. The winding version has no bearing on which rotor goes in. Same with the Castle 1512 series. The 1Y and 1.5Y share the exact same rotor. So you would think the same of the 4074 series and the 4082. I dont know about the stator plates though. You would think the stator length stays the same, so the magnetic attraction would be similar. The variable could be the air gap should the ID be different.

Well there bothe 4082 just one is a 1500kv and the other is a 2200kv. Same size motors. It just seems that they have to wear in. To me its like anything if there is resistance then its not going to be upto optimal power. I could be wrong but that's my theorymiss gieco cc 1518 62.1mph Delta Force 33" cc 1717Comment

Well I've run a 4074 2200kv 4082 1250 kv cc 1512 1800 and a tacon 4074 2000kv and I'm running a cc 1518 1800kv in it this weekend. So far my tacon has ben the fastest with 63.4 mph wth a x642 crappy run times but it was fun running on 6s. I have high hopes for the cc1518 thoughmiss gieco cc 1518 62.1mph Delta Force 33" cc 1717Comment
