LEOPARD 4082 6s what kinda amps are u guys pullin

I got a nemisis gold 482 ( leopard 4082) 1500 kv on 6s 5000 mah in a aeromarine mean machine. I started with a 120 seaking esc and went to a hydra 240. I am running a x642 x645 x 646 the are all pulling about 136 to 139 amps on a fresh set of batts. I'm not sure if this is normal , i was told that that motor and setup would pull 45 amps maxs. Mathmatically 138 amps is right but i don't know. There is no binding any where in the drive upon visual inpections and she runs FAST which also tells me there is no binding. ANY input would be great

Whoever told you 45 amps max for that setup was smoking crack. Is the 136/9 amps the average or the spike draw? That combo will pull north of 100 amps, but exactly how much will depend on the prop size, internal friction and how the boat is trimmed out. How fast is the boat running? That will help us get an idea of the amp draw.

45 amps sounds all wrong this is (correct me if im wrong) a 2000 watt 3000 watt burst motor, i am also interested in the answer to this question as i am running the same setup only with 442s and 445s and a seaking 180 amp esc havnt had any problems yet, on the 445 the caps are around 120 deg everything else is around 100 deg id say 139 amps sounds about right if your not over heating anything after a full run id just ride out with it

that was max amps on a watts up meter. Not a clue to how fast it is but its is ( no gps ) i would guess in the 50's somewhere. all three of those props did not make much of a diff in the amps would u guys go bigger than a 446 ? i mean where should i draw my max amps at. The motro is rated for 120 but i ve seen guys pull way more than what there motors were rated for in shorts burst. Its hard to tell where i pulled those amps , i tried to run just a straight line but was always a little hard on the trigger. After like 6 or 8 passes i strated to se the amps drop down with a 646 on it . The amps were about 115 and the batt at 11.5 volts per pack ( no load)

Short answer, no. A 646 is probably too much at that RPM if you want a reliable, consistant boat.

i forgot to tell u guys i am also running a speedmaster 21 rudder .I cut one inch off of it because no matter where i put my cg i cound not get the bow to carry , it was always planted in the water !

i think he means too much load on the motor, wich will spike amps up pretty quickly and introduces alot of heat

194 AMPS with a X648 prop , that amp draw would be only for a second or two , while getting up on to plane.. i have been using a Seaking 180 ESC on 6s with no problems for about 6 months now ...

do u get up on plane slowly or do u pin it and what would ur max motor temp be?

I try get on to plane as quick as i can , the motor & esc temps havent been hot enough to put the temp gun on them ....

i saw that from your charts ( pretty cool i don't think i can do that with a cc hydra). i actually meant at what temp would u say the motor is to hot to run

The faster you spin the prop, the higher the amp draw (with the same prop). I used to run the same leopard 4082 on 6s2p in a 34" cat and it pulled 209 with a prather s225 (47mmx1.5p). It pulled around 170 with a s220 (44mmx1.5p). I would guess teh s225 to be really close to a 646 in terms of amp draw. Thats not exact, and your boat could pull a little less im its running really loose, but its still a lot of current for a reliable "sport" boat. If you are just going for high speeds and realize that you are close to your limits, thats fine too.
