If it is the 1520/1600 motor then it will work on 5S. It might not be ideal for that particular hull and speed may not be the best, but an m445 would be a place to start.

The 1717 may be a stretch in a 1/8th scale.

would I be better off putting the 1717 in the 1/10 scale twin wing then? and then looking for a motor for the 1/8?
      Thanks for the help Fluid

that would work I was just trying to keep it at 5S then I would not need so many lipos lol 1/2 the year up here the lake is ice and when it's not I spend a lot of time on the rivers with my jet boat. now I'm makeing one for RC to take with us. I'm the only guy up here that has boats so I only run them 2 or 3 times a year. I just like making them. did my first one in 1967 and I still have it. so if I can run 5 or 6 boat with 5S then I do not need to buy to many. But if it want work out then I will buy 6S that will make the 115 fly and I will keep the other on 5S.

1520 will be fine for a 1/10th scale.

I am building an '85 Dominos Pizza 1/8th scale with 1717 on 5s2p right now. I think on this hull it will be a good setup. It will require a Castle Ice 200a or a Hydra 240a lv, but I see no reason why this motor is not big enough. Granted, this hull is lighter and narrower than most 1/8th scales so its a good candidate. If you compare the 1717 against a 1527, you will see why I think its going to be plenty. If I could only get a water cooler........Here are some pics:

OK you 2 will it work and what prop and how fast will it go I think you are messing with a old guy but fast is never to fast. just look at my little car 1800pds TVR and over 600HP at the back wheels runs a 1/4 mile in 9.2sec and turns on a dime and the cool thing is there is only 847 or something like that in the world I will put the 1717 in it if it will work.

I would say that the 1717 would work for sure in the twin wing. I'd run her on 6s and start small. Maybe a x445 or so.
