I will be running the same motor on a 29" cat on a seaking 120, should work fine just don't overprop it. Biggest difference is in the burst rating. The swordfish has a 150 amp burst rating and the seaking has a 240 amp burst rating.

      I'd be a bit skeptical of a 240 burst rating on a 120 esc.

        Go for a Swordfish 240 or a Seaking V2 180A

It seems like hobbywing doubles their constant rating to get their burst. I do agree with you though about being a crazy high burst. I just gave the information provided from the maker. I will never attempt to find how true their burst rating is, like I said I was just given what the manufactor listed it the esc at.

          The 90s are rated @ 180 burst (v1 pictured) http://www.hobbywing.com/english/Art...?ArticleID=450

          The 120s are rated @ 240 burst (v1 pictured) http://www.hobbywing.com/english/Art...?ArticleID=451

          The 180s are rated @ 360 burst (v1 pictured) : http://www.hobbywing.com/english/Art...?ArticleID=452

You know the 1774 I bought from you Steve I can not find any amp ratings on the motor not even from leopards site. I can find every other motor except that KV rating.

          I use a 180 with my leopard 2200 but the 120 with my 1774.

So far I have about 50 runs on 120A Seaking with 2200kv leopard and all works great on 4s.

I have about 3 spec sheets with varying watts and amps for the leopard motor ling. Its confusing at best.

Do you have that posted somewhere or just at your shop? Is it even worth being posted?

I have run into the disparity too with reliable specs. Might be just because the distributors are not getting the manufacturers model numbers right or maybe some engineering data sheets require updating as production continues between old stock and new. Whos knows.

There is another issue coming soon as well. I just noticed a new Leopard line, but now being called Top Power. Same exact motors, different case color, different silk screening art. And those motor data sheets are off as well on some. Their version of the 5692 1090kv is labeled 5692 1060kv. Could be typos I guess.

Thats one reason I just purchased a KV meter. So I could determine a motors kv and see if the labeling is off. Call it peace of mind if nothing else.

They change a couple numbers just so you can't track it being the same unit with different colors. Very common. It keeps you guessing and digging.

John there are a couple of different 5692 roughly 1000kv motors. One is a high amp motor, one is a lower amp model.

Also there are at ton of these showing up all over the place with different names, colors, case configuration and specs.

Is it better to have the higher or lower amp motor in the 5692 motor, Im looking at one to go in a DF 41" type hull.

Depends on your needs. I would personally use the low amp motors. They are easier on esc's. But someone that may be racing with a certain voltage constants may want the high amp motor,
