    Tp40X vs Tenshock 2250/2260 High power (40mm)

    Hi Gents,

has anyone compared the TP40 series against the new tenshock motor lines?

    Specifically looking at a comparison between a TP4060 2620 2Y, and 2250HP (40mm) 2.5Y 2550 KV

    A 2260HP(40mm) 2650KV 2Y is also a option.

How do the Tenshock's hold up to spinning 45kRPM+?

My plan is to run on the Cobra 8, for some SAW passes in a lightweight custom rigger.

TP and Tenshock are good motors the only week point with all china motors are the bearings

is a Lehner not a better choice for SAW i ran TP 4070's in a Sprint Cat hull and changed to lehner 2260 that was the only change to that hull and was 10kph faster (TP4070 1400kv and Lehner 2260/8 on 8s)i know they are expensive but it's a better motor

Normally Lehner's KV is advertised as loaded, could that be for your increase?

That is a option, a 2260, however i was wondering how a 4/6 pole would go. i will be running a non water cooled castle cobra 8.

Liam, I would definitely give the performance nod to the Tenshock HP series. The 6-pole design has a ton of torque and I have seen better efficiency from the HP2250/2260/2270 compared to similar size TP's. The cost is a factor, but you are getting really high quality motors from Tenshock. The 40 series Lehners can put out more power if you are willing to prop for very high RPM but its difficult getting that balance and you need more current from the ESC. I have run Tenshocks up to 45k, but not regularly. They don't need to be run that high to make the power. They are happier at 40-45k loaded.

Hi Tyler, as always your knowledge is invaluable. given the project it's going in, i don't want to disturb it too much given how delicate of a bit of kit it is in regard to propping up and running lower KV.

I do like the idea of having a spare motor while in Germany.

              Tyler,
when you are talking about the Tenshock HP series, is that the same as the Evo High Power versions?

I think the Leopard motors are fast but I find it interesting that much persons don't mention them when discuss fastest motors. In my experience I have race against neu, lehner, I have used a TP and from my experience I am not convinced that the neu, lehner or TP is faster than the leopards.

Atleast not within a 35 to 45k total rpm range.

I raced against someone with a lehner 2260/5 in a 4s race against my leopard 4092 2080kv. I can tell they is no way he can beat me on 4s with his lehner 2260/5 against my leopard 4092 2080kv.

I know this is a tenshock vs tp thread. But I bring up leopard because I think it is a motor that is over look and I cannot figure out why its over looked.

Another thing I would like to mention, I was looking over the namba results to find out which was the most successful motors among the winners in p mono, p catarmaran, q mono from 2018 to 2024.

One motor brand by far had more podiums, 1st overall especially than all the other brands between 2018 to 2022.
The brand was leopard, more success than, neu, tp, sss, castle you name it.

However, in 2024 with the exception of P hydro, TenShock motors dominated.

This is a video of the leopard 4092 2080kv on 6s. The video gives a good view of the stretch of water that our boats are raced on. In the above video I could not go further than half our stretch because someone was on a kyach going for they boat.

In this second video is my pursuit against another pursuit. We were both using 4s. My boat was power by the leopard 4092 2080kv on 4s. This is the same location as the first video but running the full stretch in this race. My boat was the one in front.

Notice how fast the boats ran the stretch. To get an idea how long the distance covered was, watch the first video but going even futher than the guy on the kyach.

The race with the two pursuits was a lehner vs leopard race.
Mine was the one in front. I was again using a leopard 4092 2080kv on 4s and the other was a lehner 2240 with over 2800kv loaded on 4s, with an octura 46 or 47mm prop.

Notice that pursuit could catch mine.

This race is a good example of how the leopard motors are over looked.

I would wish someone would bring a tenshock with around 2100kv on 4s and give me a race.
