what's the deal on the program box for the new version of Seaking ESC

Just wondering, do we still use the same program box for the recently released Seaking V3 ESCs?
I am aware that one needs a female wire on both ends in order to connect the box to the ESC, however I am not sure about the program box itself.

It looks to be the same, isn't it a male to male that's needed?

The same program box works fine. I recently bought two V3s. You need a female to female connector.

Hmm, my program box takes a male connector. Male connectors have female pins...

If you look into the opening there, you will see pins, that makes your box male. The pins are the same as in a radio receiver.
On the V3, three pins are sticking out from the side of the ESC, so you need that end of the cable to go over the pins and the other end to go over the pins inside the program box, at least that is how I envision the process.

The pins in the box are male as are the pins on the v3 esc, you need a female to female lead to connect the esc to the box.

Agreed the pins are male, but the connector is called male. It goes off the connector, not the pins. See the link I posted. The esc has the same male pins, but the connector is male. If you order a female to female "connector" you'll get the wrong one.

                      Don't get too confused!

It's basically a cable that has a servo connector on each end....
                      Not an extension
To me it's female to female, the other way is just not right....

This was discussed before, and those of us agreed that it should be called female to female.
But I guess if you take the whole package, since that tab drives into the receptacle, it is considered male.
One more proof that these days one can't assume anything...

It all depends where you get the lead from, some call this lead male to male other places call it female to female. I think they call it male to male because of the plastic body of the plug goes inside whatever your connecting to, those that call it female to female is because the metal contacts inside the plug are female.

Sounds like a familiar story. Mistaken gender identification from behind, then rude awakening when one passes by the subject of interest.
I have been there many times, trust me. I blame my poor eye sight...
