Swordfish 220 pro + questions

I have received my Swordfish 220 pro + and found it had built in BEC.

My question is, can I still run a small receiver battery pack or will I blow up the receiver and servo because I would have the BEC from the ESC and a battery pack?

Also, about the programming;

I plan on running 2 X 3S in parallel, if this not enough I will go to 4 X 3S, 2 series in parallel. That way I would have 22.2 volts but more amps. How many cells do I program for the ESC LVC?

Are you running 22.2 ( 6s) set up?
Your idea of 2x3s in parallel is not clear to us: Two 3 cell connected in parallel is still a 3s battery, you just double up the capacity. Two three cell lipo connected in SERIES to achieve 22.2v means it is 6s territory.
So in order to increase run time and prolong battery life, and should you choose to run "parallel", you need 6s2p. And yes! four 3 cell lipos with two connected in series in each group and then connected in parallel ( 1 group of 2 three cell connected in series + 1 group of 2 three cell connected in series = 6s2p) will have that. You still have 22.2 but your capacity is doubled.
I have not used the Swordfish Pro+, usually I disconnect the red wire ( carefully press down the tab on the metal plug and pull it out of the black plastic enclosure) from the servo lead of the ESC. I don't know what this will do to the Data Logging function.

Yes I want to run 22.2 volts just like a 6S set-up but with 3S. The reason is space in the boat and more importantly, weight distribution.

I'm going to try at first with 2 packs of 3S in series. If I do not have enough run time I plan on adding another 2 packs of 3S in series and then hook these up in parallel with the first 2 packs.

My main question about programming the ESC was about the LVC how many cells would that be? Would I program it as 3S or 6S???
I will try to remove the red wire and see what it does. What I find weird is that the instruction book says the ESC program would ask how many cells example: 3S cells. The esc is not supposed to be good for more than 6S but the program gives me a choice of up to 20 cells???

I have never used this ESC, but yes, program it @ 6s, and if you can adjust, 3v LVC is too low, potential damage to batteries. 3.2 v is minimum in my book.

you can keep red wire, i have many Swordfish esc's running in 6S, and BEC work perfectly
+1 with Tlandauer, program 6S and 3.2 v LVC

I have tried to program 6S but the program does not give that choice, I have auto, 5.0, 7.2 8.4 V and 2 to 20 cells. There are no lipo's in there.

I was able to put 3.2V for the LVC.

Cacofonix, you run only with the BEC? No battery packs for the receiver.

You should have a lipo choice right away. Are you using the program box or computer?
If box I can check on mine.

In my manual it says " ESC has auto detect Lipo cells feature."

But then on the next page it says LVC should have 2S to 6S choice.

I can't see not having a battery type choice. I'll dig around a bit.

no no no .... there is no LIPO choice, you just set cell number whatever it's Lipo or Nimh.
i don't like AUTO features, all my Swordfish are set to 3 CELL to 6 CELL, and i use only lipo
it work perfectly

i do use external battery, but only for special hull, big cat for example. i have a Racemaster hull with a SF PRO 220A 6S
and BEC is ok

Lets say I uses 2 packs of 3S2P in series would I program 6 cells?

If I go 4 packs of 3S2P would I program 12 cells????

You program the ESC for the amount of cells in 'series'. Not the amount of 'parallel' cells.

I think you are confused. When you stated 3s2p that means 11.1 volts. If you have two 3s packs connected 'series' 6s1p you have 22.2 volts.
So how do you want 4 packs configured?

If at the first test runs I do not have enough run time I will run this set up twice in parallel which will still give 22.2 volts but 11200 mAh. From what srilash says I would still program 6 cells.
