Swordfish 120 amp ESC programming

Just got a Swordfish 120 amp ESC and the USB linker. Installed the software but can't seem to get it to recognize the ESC when I connect it with my PC. Does it need to be connected to the battery? Or conversely, what else am I doing wrong? Thanks- Mike

re read the usb link install documentation.
It's the simplest things that get done wrong.
Take note the USB port it installs to on connect, and select that in the program software.

I tried all 4 COM ports on my computer at work- none worked. Here at home on my laptop, choosing COM port 3 worked no problem. I'll try my work computer again tomorrow.

Pc at work prob has unknown entries for same usb dongle.
remove usb dongle, delete all unknown devices from device manager, replug usb.
The one device found is the dongle, no conflicts now

What operating system?
Maybe try to run the program as administrator....
